Taekwondo

Originating from Korea, this is one of the world’s most popular fighting styles. This style focuses on the power of rotation to add speed and power to strikes from the legs and fists. About 80% of taekwondo strikes are kicks. The speed of the leg kicks make things difficult for the opponent. There are two different branches of this style, traditional taekwondo and sport taekwondo. Traditional taekwondo refers to the style where it was developed in the 1950’s and 1960’s by the South Korean military and sport taekwondo which developed over the decades since the 1950’s which has its emphasis on speed and competition. The martial art of taekwondo combines physical and mental strength to break wooden boards, bricks, or tiles. Physically, it develops strength, speed, balance, flexibility, and stamina. The popularity of this style has put this martial art into the Olympics and the sport itself is governed by World Taekwondo Federation or W.T.F. Taekwondo competitions is won through a point system, one point is awarded for a punch striking the head or torso, two points are awarded for any kick striking the body (torso), and three points are awarded for any kick landing on the opponent’s head. In a competition you can get a foul for the follow, heavy contact, attacking a fallen opponent, leg sweeping, holding/grabbing, or intentional attack to a target other than the opponent. This martial art teaches you how to be disciplined and focused to reach one’s goals and make a better person.

Taekwondo is used at Legends MMA to add a little spin to our kicks which make them even stronger, faster and more accuracy while at the same time we develop strength, speed, balance, flexibility, cardio, and stamina. With this type of combination we ensure our fighters are getting the best techniques learned from this style to have power spinning kicks and striking at the right spot for a quick win. It is the best martial art for flexibility to get their fighters high kicks to hit. Legends MMA uses this martial art style to make our fighters for K-1 kickboxing and MMA turn into champions then after we make our fighters into great legends.
